Cost of illness of invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroup B Neisseria meningitidis in Spain

Abstract: Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is a serious and potentially fatal infectious disease, mainly affecting children under 5 years of age, associated with long-term physical, neurological and psychological sequelae. In Spain, most cases are caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis.

This study estimates its economic burden from a social perspective in Spain.
